Empower Research Lab

Human-centered technology to support the welfare of people and planet

The Empower Lab is a research group directed by Professor Elizabeth Murnane in the
Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College. The lab’s mission is to design, build, and
study the impact of interactive tools that empower people to engage with data and
information in everyday life.

We focus on applications that address societal challenges in health, education, civics,
sustainability, and beyond. Our overarching goal is to develop technology that promotes
a variety of biopsychosocial facets of human well-being as well as the welfare of the
natural environment on which all life depends.
